Scheduling releases of Drafts

I forgot to ask you a question during your presentation at EECI. Do you have any plans on your roadmap to have the ability to schedule the release of Drafts? I have a number of clients where this is a continual problem. They'll have a live page. They create a Draft. The Draft gets approved but they don't want to push it live until a specific date/time. Right now that basically has to be marked on someone's calendar and then they have to go in and Publish the Draft manually. Definitely not ideal especially if they want it live in the middle of the night or early in the morning.

Any plans to add in scheduling of releasing of Drafts in a future release?

    Hi James,

Could they not just set the entry date to a date in the future? As long as you don't use the "show_future_entries" param on your channel entries tag, you should be fine. We just tweaked BWF to allow draft previews of future entries also!

    Hey Rob
That would of course work for new entries. I'm talking about an existing entry. So for example imagine a product page. This product is going to have a new release with new features. So you edit your page with the new content and save it as a draft. It is now ready to go, but we don't want it to go live until it is announced in 2 weeks. It would be awesome if I could schedule when that draft would be pushed live to overwrite the existing live version. Make sense?

    Hi James,

Thanks for your message. It's a great idea to be able to schedule the publishing of a draft but unfortunately this isn't possible right now.

We are planning to abstract some of the key BWF actions into an API in a future release. This would make behaviour like this possible, but I have to confess this is some way off.

I'll give this some thought and if I think of an alternative way of doing this I'll come back to you.

Hi Malcolm-If you think of something, great! If not, no worries. It
was more a suggestion for future development. It is something that I
have run into several times with my clients that are using

Any further progress or ideas on how to schedule the release of drafts? It would be such a welcome function!

    Hi James,

Unfortunately the complexity of adding this feature would require an incredible amount of time, and it is not something we have seen a massive desire for as of yet. It's definitely still on our list of possible future developments, but I can't give you a timeframe unfortunately. One of the main requirements would be every third-party add-on on your site using our API, which is obviously down to them as well as us!

Sorry we can't help any further at this time,
